The parish of St.Andreas Elbingerode/Harz was first refound 1940 since the reformation of the church in 16th century. The reason for this was the ... and volunteer work of the catolics from Blankenburg, who were concerned about the spiritual welfare and pastoral care of catholic limestone workers in Rübeland. In the following years, Elbingerode developed to a relativ self-casing curate of Blankenburg. For the service three rooms in a apartment house werde used.
The parish started to build up family circles, senior circles; children-, youth- and server groups.
The apartment from the first priest of the parish was in the Rohrbachstraße. His successors lived in the extension of a barn. In the 70s, a new parish hous was built at the Goetheplatz through the ... from the then priest Stolpe and lots of parish members.
The opporunity for changes was good. Shortly after this the rebuilding of the cemetery chapel of the catholic parish followed. The church service is held there ... since.
Regulary there are afternoons for senior citizens, which are visited well. Once a year there is a trip for them. Weekly there are religion classes and youth meetings. The youth is a dedicated group which is helping the priest often.
Yearly, our women are preparing, together with the women from the protestant parish, the Women`s World Day of Prayer in march. Every year both groups have a bible week together. For the celebration of town follows a economic church service.
Till now, the pilgrimage to hat eformer St.Andreas church has come to a nice tradition. It`s a pitty that on this place is nothing really … from the old church. But we are happy that we and our spanish friends from the World Youth Day could build up a crucifix there.
Our members also celebrate their parish. The Monday before Lent is a stable time for our carneval. In summer there are nice barbecues and on the Sundays in advent we do our coffee and music afternoons.
